At ACHIM, we promote the power to act and support individual and collective development of people at risk or in a vulnerable situation. We wish to collaborate in a social transformation of living/housing environments of the Ville-Émard-Côte-St-Paul neighborhoods and all around the South-West.

some definitions

Power to act
We define the power to act as the possibility that individuals can access or strengthen their self-determination over different aspects of their lives.
Individual and collective development
Individuals' will and motivation throughout the objectives and actions they take to realize their potential.
Vulnerability situations
All situations likely to have a negative impact on a person, making them vulnerable, temporarily or long term.
Social transformation
Sustainable change generally for medium to long term on organizations and the community, which will modify their core foundation and functions.
Living environments
Physical place where people live, including all places where people gather, bond and develop a sense of belonging.
Community experiences for the participants
For participants, our activities aim to trigger new emotions that meet their needs and emerging expectations before, during and after their involvement.
Community experiences for our counselors
With our counselors, we want to design and develop new innovative actions that meet the specific needs of the community using unique solutions.
Community intervention
Outreach work where all actions undertaken with individuals take place directly in housing environments. The main goal is to strengthen the power to act.
Intergenerational and cultural diversity
We take into account diversity and inclusion for all ages, all cultures and all personal orientations with an adaptable approach to all backgrounds.

Our goals

Promote community life

The organizing of activities and workshops to reach individuals that are in vulnerable situations and, at the same time, contributing to sustainably boosting the achievement of social changes.

Providing community housing

We want to be able to offer community housing spaces to people at risk or living in vulnerable situations to offer them a greater power to act.

Generate interest and engagement

Our desire is to develop and organize activities that promote awareness among people at risk or living in vulnerable situations.

Mobilize partners and the collective

Our goal is to unite and to address the issues faced by people at risk or living in vulnerable situations.

Promote peoples' interests

We are committed to actively promote the needs and concerns of our community so that they are taken into account by the decision-making people.

Collect and administer finances

Our task here is to collect and administer money from grants, donations, subscriptions, etc., with the goal of achieving the Corporation's objectives.

ACHIM, founded in 1989, is in constant development thanks to the remarkable contribution of our volunteers, members, tenants and employees. Together, we have shaped a place dedicated to protection and well-being. Thank you to everyone who is directly or indirectly involved with us.

My mandate is to offer individual and collective support to tenants. Thanks to my weekly presence in each home, I can listen, support, inform, accompany, refer, raise awareness and support tenants, when they need it. What motivates me the most in my work is the feeling of having been able to make a real difference in the lives of tenants when they come back to see me to share the positive changes that have taken place following my interventions.
